RECYCLING OF INERT WINTER SPREADING MATERIALS
Problems concerning the recycling of abrasives used during the winter repair of highways are closely connected with those of economy and the ecology of highway surroundings. When using natural crushed aggregate, considerably low losses were observed mainly due to grain size, automobile traffic and winter climate conditions on the highways. Trial sections were established on the state highways in mountain areas. During the winter, consumption of aggregate particles used was monitored. After the winter period, technologies concerning the aggregate collection, the amount of collected aggregate, and sorting into particles, were tested.
