TRAFFIC EDUCATION PROGRAM FOR PRESCHOOL AGED CHILDREN AND CHILDREN STARTING SCHOOL

Part I of this Finnish investigation examines the possibility of cooperation between teachers and parents in traffic education. An experiment was made with six-year old kindergarten children, their teachers and parents. In the classroom, children were given pedestrian urban traffic information. Parents supplemented this training at home. Part II is a booklet intended for traffic education for teachers, instructors, and the parents of preschool aged children and children in the first class of the comprehensive school. Discussed are aspects of problems related to children's environment and safety, and the methods of traffic education. Also, a traffic education program on the basis of research results is presented./SRIS/
