STABILITY OF TUGS

A review of problems affecting stability of tugs, based on European practice, which may be encountered by the design engineer is presented by the author. The histories of some actual capsizings are detailed with a discussion of techniques to eliminate such occurrences. Details are also given for calculations of stability for a 2300 HP harbor tug according to Standards of the Russian Register.
