THE CANADIAN TRUCKING INDUSTRY: ISSUES ARISING OUT OF CURRENT INFORMATION
The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of the trucking industry by consolidating the available literature and statistics, as found in both Canadian and U.S. sources. Most of the available data on the Canadian trucking industry pertains to the "for-hire" sector, therefore, much of the discussion is centred around this sector. The material presented in this paper is organized under the areas of industry structure, related economic characteristics and specialized sectors of the industry. Regulation is not discussed in any depth. /RTAC/
