NETWORKS AND SPATIAL PATTERNS: A TOOL FOR DEFINING SCENARIOS IN 'RUIMPAD'
NETWERKEN EN RUIMTELIJKE PATRONEN: EEN INSTRUMENT VOOR SCENARIOBOUW IN RUIMPAD
The 'RUIMPAD' project aims to develop a method for evaluating future scenarios where the fields of transport, spatial planning and environment are integrated. This is achieved by studying the interaction of spatial patterns and networks of different transport systems. Their combination yields traffic flows. From these flows benchmarks with respect to accessibility, environment and utilization of space (RMT benchmarks) are derived. In order to pursue this goal: (1) a framework must be developed consisting of editors for both spatial patterns and networks of different transport systems; (2) a method to combine these two; and (3) a model to compute the resulting flows. In addition, RMT benchmarks must be defined and derived. This paper presents a modelling framework to formulate and calcaulate those future scenarios.
