PORT GROWTH SLOWED IN 1989

One of the many sections of the 1991 Containerisation International Yearbook presents detailed, comprehensive port statistics through 1989, plus estimates for 1990. The data were collected in the latter part of 1990, when over 400 ports were contacted. The author draws on this data to analyze business conditions and prospects for container ports worldwide. Accompanying tables show annual TEU growth in world container totals by region, 1982-1989; world container port traffic by country; and rankings of the top 20 container ports by TEU throughput and by containerized tonnage.
