ARMCHAIR CONTROL THROUGH INTEGRATED BRIDGES
An integrated bridge system combines all navigation, control, monitoring and communication functions of the bridge into one electronically and ergonomically engineered console unit. Some of the systems being marketed by leading navaid manufacturers are reviewed. It is also noted that a key factor in the development of one-man operation of a ship contol center is dual-function education and training to give the operator the aggregate skills and knowledge of deck and engineering officers.
