SICON CONVEYOR: A REVOLUTION IN BULK MATERIALS HANDLING
The Swedish company Scaniainventor Conveyor Sicon AB has developed the SICON, a belt conveyor system with several unique features. The belt is made of an appropriately reinforced tubular section that is opened during loading and discharge and then closed to its original shape as the belt continues the transport loop. As the bulk material is enclosed for the most part during conveyance, the common problems of spillage, dust pollution and moisture accumulation are greatly reduced. The SICON belt can turn sharp corners with a 0.4 meter radius and can handle steep inclinations with 35-degree slopes. Several reference installations that use the SICON belt conveyor system are described, confirming the satisfactory performance of the equipment.
