ELECTRONICS EXTENDED INTO BROAD SPECTRUM OF DIESEL ENGINE CONTROL & MONITORING
At Motoren & Turbinen Union Friedrichshafen (MTU), electronic engine controls are so successful a concept that the majority of engines delivered by MTU, irrespective of application, include MTU Elektronik's type RO82 microprocessor-controlled governor. Where sequential turbocharging is specified, there is also electronic management of the motorized flaps that regulate exhaust-gas flow to the individual turbochargers. The company's electronic control systems can be extended to include control and monitoring of onboard diesel gensets; of propulsion plants using controllable pitch propellers, water jets or Voith Schneider propellers; and of gas turbine and combined diesel and gas turbine installations.
