CRYSTAL HARMONY: A CRUISE SHIP FOR THE RISING SUN
The 49,400 grt CRYSTAL HARMONY, the largest cruise ship and the first truly international one to be built in Japan, is described. The vessel's propulsion plant is of particular interest, being a diesel-electric plant with cycloconverters that were chosen in lieu of synchrodrives. The ship's 480 cabins are larger than the industry norm and are outfitted with video cassette players, refrigerators, international dial telephones, and satellite receiver television with additional onboard event relay.
