ATMS ARCHITECTURE
This working group proceeded as follows: A number of key topics in ATMS Architectures were defined; each topic was then examined from two perspectives. The group then discussed these issues in detail, as time allowed, in order to provide explicative and contextual information for each issue. Following the identification and explication of the issues, the group offered recommendations concerning the architecture topic. These recommendations, directed to the FHWA and to others in the ATMS community, provide suggested points of departure for additional activities to address the topic and the issues. Recommendations generally cover a number of prospective areas, and include, for example, suggestions for additional research, for laboratory and field testing, and for additional involvement by segments of the ATMS community.
