ANALYSIS OF CELLULAR BRIDGE DECKS WITHOUT TRAVERSE DIAPHRAGMS--A NEW METHOD
The paper presents a new method for the analysis of articulated cellular bridge decks without transverse diaphragms. It uses shear analogy to simulate box beam distortion and a grillage-finite element approach to analyse the idealized structure. The method is applicable to decks with stiff as well as deformable cross sections and to skew and continuous spans. The degree of accuracy of the method is demonstrated by comparing the results obtained by the computer program with other published methods on a right bridge deck under point loads. The validity of the method for skew decks is confirmed by comparison with model tests on a large skew bridge deck model. /Author/
