ON THE DANGERS OF TRIM BY THE BOW

Using simple methods and an admittedly rudimentary mathematical model, a number of features of ship stability, directional instability, oscillatory instability and safety are examined. Attention is focused on the effects of trim, speed and metacentric height on the safety of the ship.
