A WARSHIP ROLL CRITERION
The roll motion encountered by all surface vessels in a seaway influences the effectiveness of the various onboard systems in different ways and in so doing affects the overall operability of the unit. A method of comparing ships' relative roll motions is proposed along with a motion criterion that may easily be implemented in the early stages of warship design to ensure that roll motions of future Royal Navy vessels are acceptable.
