CHARACTERISTICS OF FATIGUE ANALYSIS METHODS BASED ON THE FATIGUE TESTS
Three methods based on fatigue tests are used in fatigue analysis for practical design. These methods--simplified, deterministic and stochastic--are briefly described. Program packages developed at Korea's Daewoo Shipbuilding Research Center are applied to the fatigue analysis of WEST VISION, a semisubmersible drilling rig. Results are compared with those obtained using Norway's Veritec programs. The authors' purposes are to show the characteristics of the three analytical methods and to derive the corresponding calibration factors.
