A MATHEMATICAL MODEL FOR SIMULATION OF TUG HANDLING
One of the most important criteria in tug design is maneuvering behavior. A mathematical model of tug motions in the horizontal planes is introduced and the coefficients of the differential equations of motion are discussed. An example is given of how the developed model can, for example, be used to estimate towing hook position. The model can be used as both a design and training tool to ensure safe and efficient towage.
