SULZER Z40 SERVICE EXPERIENCE
The medium speed Sulzer Z40-type engine has been in service for more than two decades, first in a two-stroke and later in a four-stroke version. During this time, it has seen service in numerous stationary and marine applications involving day-in, day-out operation on heavy fuel oil. The range of these applications is discussed, after which service experience is described with respect to the engine block, liner wear, cylinder head, rotating piston, bearings and fuel injection pumps.
