REPORT OF COMMITTEE V.4: NOVEL DESIGN CONCEPTS--SWATH

The mandate of Committee V.4 of the ISSC (International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress) is concern with current activity and experience involving small waterplane area twin-hull (SWATH) ships; the critical review of this work from the standpoint of materials, structural safety and design; and the identification of the major uncertainties in modelings. In accordance with this mandate, the sections of this 1988 report of the Committee successively review developments in the configuration and size of SWATH ships; loads; structural design and analysis; materials and lightweight structural concepts; and fabrication.
