LOAD-DISPLACEMENT RELATIONSHIP FOR VERTICAL ANCHOR PLATES
Pullout tests were conducted on three vertical model anchor plates (in a sand box) in an effort to study the load-displacement response of isolated shallow vertical anchors with limited width-to-height ratios. The details are described for the laboratory model tests and load displacement analysis. The experimental results of model studies indicate that relationships can be expressed in a nondimensional form by a single equation of a rectangular hyperbolic form for all plates nith B/h ratios of 5 or less. However, values of a and b in the equation presented may be dependent upon the angle of friction and bulk density of the soil and further work needs to be done to find the influence of soil properties on the values of a and b. A load-displacement relation such as that developed here will assist in the design of structures using anchors where total displacement is the controlling criterion.
