DEVELOPMENT OF NEW CIRCUIT DESIGNS FOR MARINE ELECTRICAL GENERATOR DRIVES
Research on the development of new circuits for electrical generator drives in marine electrical power plants is discussed. The effort has been spurred by there being insufficient output from waste heat utilization systems when modern high-efficiency low-rpm diesels are used, and is taking two main directions. The first is the creation of combined plants that make it possible, under all operating conditions, to fully utilize the energy available to the utilization systems and to select the main engine power level output. The second is the development of fuel-efficient ways of providing continuous electrical power in installations with one basic power source, depending upon the main engine.
