FAN CLUTCHES: A 'MUST' FOR HEAVY TRUCKS?
The fan is the largest single factor in the overall noise level of a heavy diesel truck running at highway speeds. It also consumes up to 36 hp which ultimately come from the fuel tank. Noise abatement legislation, coupled with the relentless rise in fuel prices, may mean that every heavy truck will eventually include a fan clutch as standard equipment. /SAE/
