EUROPE, THE MIDCONTINENT AND 1992

This is the first article in a two-part series looking at the European Community in 1992 and how it will affect the Great Lakes/Saint Lawrence Seaway region. It first gives the background and history of the Economic Community. It then discusses its organizational structure, the effects of its elimination of economic barriers, the expected increase in the Community's gross national product, and some concerns and fears of the U.S. and Canadian business communities with regard to the post-1992 situation.
