SLOW SPEED ENGINES
This regular annual feature on slow speed engines finds no new types of crosshead engines introduced since March of 1988, but finds that more models have been added to existing engine ranges and that the choice of bore sizes and outputs is greater than ever. The two articles in the feature are: "Widest Ever MAN B&W Models Choice," which gives details on MAN B&W's MC range of from a mere 1,890 bhp with the 4S26MC up to the newly uprated 12K90MC of 67,080 bhp; and "RTA Engines Development Potential," which tells how Sulzer now offers engines up to 57,000 bhp and discusses in depth the principal development objectives of the company's RTA two-stroke engine series.
