TORSIONAL VIBRATION BEHAVIOR OF HYDRODYNAMIC COUPLINGS
The derivation of an appropriate model for describing the dynamic behavior of hydrodynamic couplings is described. The suitability of the mathematical approach is proven by a comparison of the results of theoretical calculations with test-bed measurements and with data acquired from the main propulsion system of a modern containership, the NORASIA PRINCESS. All data presented refer to the couplings made by Voith Turbo, in West Germany, and cannot be transferred, unaltered, to couplings of another design.
