THREE SISTERS CHOOSE ELECTRIC
STAR PRINCESS, the first of three sister passenger ships for P&O Cruises, is described. Plans and general arrangement drawings are also included. The ship has a length oa of 246.63m and accommodates 1,700 passengers in 735 cabins. The crew of 600 has 340 cabins. Although steam turbines were originally strong contenders for the propulsion system, the arguments for diesel-electric proved decisive.
