MARINE PYROTECHNICS
Technological advancement notwithstanding, a valid requirement remains for ships to carry reliable, economical, manually-operated pyrotechnic distress signals. If technology fails, a flare or smoke signal could be the only way to alert potential rescuers to the exact location of a vessel in distress. The author reviews the requirements for the distress signals to be carried and the range of products available for complying with these requirements.
