IMPROVEMENT OF PREDICTION METHOD FOR PROPELLER CHARACTERISTICS AND BLADE PRESSURE DISTRIBUTION

A method is proposed for predicting propeller characteristics and blade pressure distribution, using numerical lifting surface theory and a new trailing vortex wake model. A conical helicoid is used to describe the deformed trailing vortex sheet, taking the contraction of the slipstream into account, and the vortex lattice method is applied. The propeller loading and blade thickness are denoted by vortex and source elements, respectively. The method is shown to enable an improvement in the accuracy of calculation results, especially for a highly skewed propeller.
