COSPAS-SARSAT TERMS AND ACRONYMS USED IN THE UNITED STATES
This article provides information from a COSPAS/SARSAT glossary adopted by the U.S. SARSET Program Steering Group. The glossary was developed to help standardize and clarify terms and reduce national use of multiple terms with the same or similar meaning. Since COSPAS/SARSAT is part of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System and serves the international search and rescue community, account has been taken of SAR terminology already in use internationally.
