REALIZING THE POTENTIAL OF HIGH TEMPERATURE SUPERCONDUCTORS: ROLES OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND INDUSTRY
This article reprints a speech delivered by the author on 9 February 1988 at the conference "Superconductivity Research and Development in the U.S. Navy," sponsored by both the Office of the Chief of Naval Research and the National Security Industrial Association. The goals of the conference, which the article addresses, were: (1) to keep U.S. companies informed of the Navy's quest for successes in superconductivity R & D by describing to industry the programs in progress and discussing plans for the future, and (2) to enlist industries as partners in the quest by identifying the applications needs of the Navy and potential areas for industry participation.
