MIXING CRUISING WITH CARGO--THE PASSENGER FREIGHTERS
With prospective passengers willing to pay $100 or more per day to sample life on the high seas, a number of cargo vessel operators have entered the cruising field. The potential of $900 to $1200 extra income per day, for up to twelve passengers, is well worth the relatively small additional overhead involved, especially with freight rate margins so slim. Although North American passengers are considered the largest market for freighter travel, Europeans are becoming increasingly interested, as well.
