PROBLEMS INTRODUCING ROBOTICS IN A SHIPYARD

This article examines what problems exist in introducing robots in Soviet shipyards. It is concluded that in implementing a unified technical policy on the use of robotics in industry, measures should be taken to improve the efficiency with which robots and robotic production complexes are used. It is also concluded that the economic and social effects of introducing robots are greatly dependent upon the arsenal of hardware and upon the economic feasibility of using robots and robotic production complexes; that the use of robots calls for a switch to modular construction methods that are based on well-developed and quantity-produced all-purpose components; and that the development of machining sections for individual parts produced in sufficiently large lots is an economically justified way to introduce robotics.
