EFFECT OF WELDING CONDITIONS ON THE CHARACTER OF CRACK PROPAGATION AND THE LOAD CARRYING CAPACITY OF A WELDED JOINT DURING BRITTLE FRACTURE OF WELD METAL
Investigations have been conducted on commercial-grade steels, binary iron-based alloys, and commercially pure iron with the aim to examine the effect of the welding conditions on the orientation of cracks during the brittle fracture of the weld metal, and to investigate the relationship between the character of crack propagation and the load-carrying capacity of the welded joint. Results are plotted and analyzed.
