STABRIG AND PROLIX: KNOWLEDGE-BASED SYSTEMS FOR MARINE OPERATIONS (SEMI-SUBMERSIBLE STABILITY PROBLEMS AND MOORING SYSTEMS
Two projects carried out jointly by MARINTEK and the Norwegian Institute of Technology are reviewed. Project STABRIG (Stability Rig) deals with the application of artificial intelligence/expert systems to calculations of stability for semisubmersible rigs. Project PROLIX (Prototype Line Instrument Expert) is concerned with the use of an expert system for interpreting data on the status of the mooring system in a semisubmersible platform.
