IMPROVING DOCK SUPPORT DEVICES
It is described how the methods for designing and manufacturing dock support devices have been improved at the Dal'zavod Shipyard in the USSR. As compared with 1970, the introduction of the new supports has reduced lumber consumption per drydocked ship by a factor of 3 to 4. It has also raised productivity in producing the supports, reduced by more than half the number of supports required, and considerably increased dock throughput.
