MANEUVERING BEHAVIOUR OF FULL-BUILT SHIPS ON SHALLOW WATER
The model-test-program using the tanker "ESSO OSAKA" was supplemented with extensive investigations in shallow water. Planar-motion-tests and free running model tests were performed in three different water depths. The calculated hydrodynamic coefficients clearly show the influence of the variation of the water depth. The comparison of simulation, model- and full-scale- tests confirms the usefulness of the mathematical model and gives hints for the treatment of the correlation of maneuvering tests, especially in shallow water.
