THE MERCHANT SHIPPING ACT 1894: FORMAL INVESTIGATION INTO SHIPPING CASUALTY M.V. DERBYSHIRE
This document reports on a formal investigation held between 11 June 1987 and 18 January 1989, to inquire into the circumstances pertaining to the sinking of the DERBYSHIRE in the Pacific Ocean off Okinawa on or about 9 September 1980, with the loss of 44 lives. The court found that the DERBYSHIRE was probably overwhelmed by the forces of nature in Typhoon Orchid.
