ANALYSIS OF THE SEASONAL VARIATIONS IN TRAFFIC ON THE SOC. AUTOSTRADE NETWORK

ANALISI DELLE SERIE TEMPORALI DI TRAFFICO SULLA RETE DELLA SOC. AUTOSTRADE

In this study conventional analysis methods are applied to traffic survey data from the societa autostrade motorway network over the last five years in order to identify the factors which characterised the traffic on each motorway, and to effect maximum forecasts for 1974. An attempt is made to determine a neutral traffic flow which remains constant with time, and the seasonal fluctuations which characterise and distinguish the various motorways, singularly as in groups. A mathematical model is developed based upon the following components: the trend (t), the seasonal component(s), the cyclic component (C), and the incidental component (A). /TRRL/
