ECONOMIC CHANNELS AND MANEUVERING AREAS FOR SHIPS
For investigation of the engineering of safe, adequate, and economic channels and maneuvering area for ships, the paper presents in general terms the state of knowledge and the effects of deficiencies thereof, and concludes that it is inadequate, and stresses the importance of developing new knowledge. Subsequent reports go into detail on the several aspects of the problem--economics; effects of external forces on vessel handling; vessel controllability; required channel depths, widths, and alignment; and water waves produced by ships in motion.
