METAL HYDRIDE FUEL CELL POWER SOURCE
A high energy density metal hydride fuel cell power source is being developed by USAMERDC for REMBASS to power radio relays or sensors. Ten power sources will be provided to REMBASS for DT/OT-1 at Fort Bragg in early Summer. Each unit will consist of an acid electrolyte fuel cell stack, a refuelable calcium hydride fuel cartridge, a fan to provide anode gas circulation, and a dc-dc converter. Each unit will be approximately 3-1/4 x 3-3/4 x 11 inches in size, will weigh approximately 3.5 pounds and be capable of providing 360 to 400 watt hours at a nominal 28 V d.c. /GMRL/
