CHARACTERISTICS OF BITUMINOUS SURFACINGS WITH A HIGH RESISTANCE TO WEAR
CARACTERISTIQUES DES REVETEMENTS BITUMINEUX RESISTANT A L'USURE
This article discusses the characteristics of bituminous mixtures influencing the resistance of surfacings to wear. Its aim is to facilitate the application of research results with a view to obtaining surfacing best resistant to wear within economic, material, equipment, labour and environmental constraints. It is divided into the five following parts: the problem of wear; influence of studded tyres, chains and other similar devices; causes of wear; mix design of mixtures with a high resistance to wear; properties of coarse aggregates, properties of mortar and coarse aggregate proporation. /TRRL/
