THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE CONFLANS BRIDGE OVER THE SEINE BETWEEN CHARENTON AND IVRY-SUR-SEINE

LA RECONSTRUCTION DU PONT DE CONFLANS SUR LA SEINE ENTRE CHARENTON ET IVRY-SUR-SEINE

The new bridge in conflans crossing the Seine in the south east suburbs of Paris is the first structure of a system which will comprise two one-way bridges, over the Seine. The article describes the reason for selecting this type of system and the bridge deck, which is of standard design. Details are given of the bridge piers and of the structure on the right bank, the levelling of which was a deciding factor in the selection of the design. The steel and galvanized aluminium parapet is briefly described and the quantity of materials used for both structures and their costs are quoted. /TRRL/
