THE POLYNOMIAL ALIGNMENT COMPUTER PROGRAM
This article describes the spline vertical and horizontal alignment program developed to a first stage of release at the Main Roads Department, Queensland. It is envisaged that it will prove of assistance in rural and urban roadway design processes. Two design techniques are incorporated in the alignment - a visual means of controlling and displaying an alignment and interpolation of a complex shape in mathematical terms. The underlying goals of the program have been simplicity of data specification and user-defined alignment shape control. Details of the program are given. Further commands for the program are being developed. /TRRL/
