Standards in force in Italy, France and Spain for the inspection and maintenance of highway structures are summarised and reviewed. The main provisions regarding legal aspects, and technical and operational methods, are discussed. The article is based on the national reports of Italy, France and Spain, presented at the Venice Motorway Conference, 20 and 22 June, 1974. /TRRL/
