FIRST SIX MONTHS: TRAFFIC AND SAFETY

Traffic, mileage and safety statistics are presented for the first 6 months of 1974, on the 1887.5-km motorway network of the Socieata Autostrade, Italy. A comparison with a survey for the same period of 1973 shows an overall decrease in traffic movement (vehicle/km) of 2.8% for 1974. This result contained a 8.9% drop in passenger car traffic and A 13.4% increase in freight traffic. Accident, injury and fatality values per 100 million vehicle/km, are shown for the first 6 months of each year from 1970-74 inclusive. The values for 1974 show a decrease of 16.9% (accidents), 16.3% (injuries), and 16.7% (fatalities), as compared to 1973. /TRRL/
