IN-WATER ANTIFOULING REACTIVATION: 'NO DRYDOCKING FOR 4 YEARS'

A ship hull painting system and in-water antifouling reactivation scheme which has been developed, and which promises considerable operational savings by extending the period between drydockings for antifouling maintenance and renewal to four years, is described. The procedure which must be followed in the application of the coatings is explained, and the in-water method of reactivation of the antifoulant is also described. The savings which can be realized by utilizing this system are discussed, as are the technical background and other aspects of the system.
