THE FURTHER DEVELOPMENT OF SIMPLEX-COMPACT SEAL
Developments in a stern tube seal which was designed to resist the high pressure resulting from increased draft, the increased circumferential speed of the propeller shaft, as well as lengthen the life of the stern tube seal. In order to fulfill these requirements, special modifications had to be made to the sealing rings, concerning essentially their shape and material. These modifications are fully explained in the article, as well as the reasoning behind their selection.
