COMPONENT STATISTICAL ANALYSIS: AN AID TO SHIPYARD DESIGN
This article describes a ship hull component classification system which has been designed to allow a component statistical analysis to be carried out in shipbuilding. The system is of the 'fixed' digital significance type, and has nine digits, the first six which describe the geometric shape and the final three which describe the component dimensions. An example of the system is provided including the manner in which this system can facilitate shipyard operations.
