TRAFFIC PLANNING IN URBAN AREAS IN GERMANY
PLANEAMIENTO VIAL EN AREAS URBANAS EN ALEMANIA
A rise in income leads to an increase in vehicle ownership and transport demand. It has been shown that an increase in the number of vehicles results in an increased use of the latter. Based on those principles, traffic planning concepts for urban areas recently developed in the Federal Republic of Germany are outlined. These concepts concern mainly: A traffic generation model for determining the number of journeys undertaken, a traffic distribution model to distribute the journeys per zone, a modal split model to apportion journeys between public and private transport modes, and a model for allocating the network according to traffic demand. The covering abstract of the conference is IRRD abstract no.100998. /TRRL/
