ANALYSIS METHODS AND IN-SERVICE EXPERIENCE FOR SEMISUBMERSIBLE PLATFORMS
Simplified strength analysis methods for semisubmersible platforms are compared with more sophisticated methods. Platform damage from fatigue of bracing with connections, grounding, ship rammings and mooring chain failure is also discussed, based on in-service experience. Some statistical tables on the causes and frequency of platform accidents are included.
