TRANSVERSE ANALYSIS OF SOME TYPICAL PRESTRESSED CONCRETE BOX-SECTION BRIDGE DECKS - 1
The paper which appears in three parts deals with the transverse analysis of five typical prestressed concrete box-section bridge decks. Such deck sections are becoming increasingly popular, particularly with the development of multilevel and multilane intersections in complex highway crossings. They lend themselves to aesthetics and structural efficiency, and consequent economy. Analysis of each of these sections is supplemented by a fully worked out practical example in order to illustrate the method of analysis. The paper is based on actual prestressed concrete bridge designs carried out by the author while abroad. After a brief introduction, the first part of the paper deals with the twin-box-section deck interconnected only by a top slab. /TRRL/
